Brian Ahearn, the son of Jeff and Kathy Ahearn and brother to Shannon and Megan Ahearn, was simply all boy at full throttle. Created from love and mystery, whose illness unmasked a holiness some of us bury inside a long lifetime.
In 1998 Brian passed away after his 10 month battle with brain cancer, yet he left behind a legacy built on miracles. The miracle of family, of friendship, of community, of the stranger, of faith, of memory and of connection. Along with friends from the Warwick community, the Ahearn’s have launched a foundation in Brian’s name to help Hudson Valley families with sick children.
Miracles are not to be asked for. They are to be witnessed, discovered and praised for they are happening all the time. The Ahearns do not tell us their story to tug us with their grief. They tell us to rise in joy, to open our eyes and embrace the miracle.

The Brian Ahearn Children’s Fund’s (BACF) Board of Directors would like to thank everybody for the support over the past 20 years. We appreciate all support given in these difficult times and look forward to assisting other families in need. Because of our sponsors, donors and event participants, we have been able to provide:
An 8 year-old Newburgh girl with Prader-Willi Syndrome.
A 16 year-old Wallkill girl paralyzed in an accident.
A 4 year-old Greenwood Lake boy in need of a bone marrow transplant.
A Washingtonville family with two school aged children who lost their mother to cancer.
2015 has been challenging year for families with seriously ill children or families (with children) facing severe hardships. The economic realities of the past few years have resulted in an increase of requests for assistance from families who were previously able to do it on their own.
The Fund has already distributed $45,000 this year with three months to go. Without another fundraiser until May of next year, we appreciate any support that you can give between now and the end of the year.
The primary mission of the Brian Ahearn Children’s Fund is to assist needy children (or families with children in need) whose primary residence is within the Counties of Orange, Ulster and Sullivan, in the State of New York.
More than 95% of the contributions to BACF go directly to the families we help.DONATE NOW

Thank you for the gift that you sent to me and my family. It makes me happy to know that there people who help kids like me who are sick. I’m sorry to hear that you lost your son, but I bet he knows how much you love him each time you help out another child.
My husband and I would like to thank you so much for the check given to our family on behalf of our daughter. Our family has been struggling providing everything that our daughter needs due to her diagnosis and your donation came at a time when we needed it so badly.
My children and I would like to thank you Jeff and everyone on the Board of Directors for your generous donation….In this time of grief my family finds great comfort knowing that there are organizations like the Brian Ahearn Children’s Fund supporting families, friends and communities.
The BACF Golf Outing is held annually. We thank our sponsors, donors and participants who make it a worthy event. It’s a fun event and a wonderful day for everyone involved with the Brian Ahearn Children’s Fund.
